Oberlin Student Labor Action Coalition 2018 Weekend of Action Symposium

Come attend a talk by guest speaker Leon Briggs (Seneca) comparing the "Indian Health Care" program with traditional health care: religious, herbal, and spiritual. Mr. Briggs will discuss health issues facing Native communities and how to deal with these issues and balance traditional ways of life by using traditional, spiritual, and cultural remedies.

This event is free and open to the public.

This talk is part of Oberlin's Student Labor Action Coalition (SLAC) annual Weekend of Action symposium (March 30th-April 1, 2018).

About SLAC:

Oberlin’s Student Labor Action Coalition (SLAC) is part of a network of campus organizations that support worker struggles and their unions. The Student Labor Action Coalition is a coalition of students dedicated to:

  • Organizing students to engage in labor solidarity activities locally and worldwide;
  • Educating students and the community about labor unions and workers’ struggles for social justice;
  • Training students to be activists and organizers in the labor movement; and
  • Actively opposing racism, sexism, imperialism, and other forms of oppression, while supporting the struggle for social justice for all.

We keep in formal contact with the campus chapter of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) and Oberlin College Office and Professional Employees Union (OCOPE) but aim to support and promote the rights of all workers on campus. Oberlin SLAC equally works to support and engage in social justice student activism on campus and throughout the greater Cleveland area.
