INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE WORLD'S INDIGENOUS PEOPLES (2017)
Wednesday, August 9, 7pm

Come and learn about local indigenous history and the continuing struggle for human rights and self-determination. Meet members of the Oberlin Indigenous Peoples' Day Committee as they share their effort to replace Columbus Day in Oberlin with Indigenous Peoples' Day, and explain how celebrating Columbus impacts indigenous peoples.

CONNECTING WITH OBERLIN'S INDIGENOUS HERITAGE
Saturday, August 19, 2pm

Come join us as we examine the history of Native Peoples in Oberlin. Cultural demonstrations, drumming and dancing will accompany this event. This event is a follow-up to the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

LAST READING OF OBERLIN INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY RESOLUTION
Monday, August 21, 7pm

Come and show your support at Oberlin City Council for Indigenous Peoples' Day as Oberlin prepares to become the first city in Ohio to adopt this holiday! This is the third and final reading of the resolution to adopt; the previous two readings passed unanimously so we anticipate that this
resolution will indeed pass. A strong showing of support from indigenous
people will be welcome.

Oberlin City Hall, 85 South Main Street, Oberlin Ohio - (440) 775-1531
