Oberlin Indigenous Peoples' Day Committee invites you to a documentary entitled "Contrary Warrior: The Life and Times of Adam Fortunate Eagle" (82 mins.)

Filmed in Nevada on the Paiute-Shoshone Indian Reservation, "Contrary Warrior" is an intimate first-person account on the life and work of Native activist, artist, ceremonial leader, enemy of the State, and author, Adam Fortunate Eagle (Chippewa). Injustices met by urban Indians motivate him to become an advocate for Native rights. Eventually he becomes one of the principle architects of the 1969-71 occupation of Alcatraz Island, an action that brings about social change for Native peoples throughout the United States.
